Out of the box: building robots, transforming Lives

Thank you for visiting my site for my newly released book: Out of the Box: Building Robots, Transforming Lives.  Having spent the first months of my life sleeping in a cardboard box in our two bedroom trailer, raised in an interracial, dysfunctional family with a low income, I did not fit into the box of someone bound for success and happiness as a computer science and engineering professor.  This book is more than the story of the Spelman College SpelBots RoboCup team that I founded to become the first all-women, African American team to compete in the international RoboCup “olympics” of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

This book is my personal spiritual and educational journey of not allowing people to define me into a box of their choosing but rather letting God take the pieces of my life out of the box and begin building a life that would demonstrate the potential He has created us all to have.  This is my journey into discovering how not to put God in a box of my creation but to learn to live a life of faith, courage, and integrity so that I can be a blessing to others.

Please join me in discovering truths that will help you overcome odds to reach your dreams and goals.  In the words of Winston Churchill, “Success is never final. Failure is seldom fatal. But it’s courage that counts”.  Come see how God helped me to understand His purpose for me that I might help transform other’s potential into reality.
